Škoda Auto revealed the design study of another fully electric model. It will be called Epiq and its price tag should be around 600 thousand crowns.
In the coming years, Škoda Auto will be electric. The automaker plans to launch a total of six new electric cars on the market in the coming years. This year, the compact SUV Elroq, whose premiere is planned for the end of the year, will attract the main attention.
However, the year 2025 in Škodovka will revolve around a compact SUV named Epiq. Škoda has indicated what it will look like through a design study presented today.
The price of the Škoda Epiq will be around 25 thousand euros, i.e. around six hundred thousand crowns. According to the head of Škoda Auto, Klaus Zellmer, it will be a car accessible to everyone who wants to switch to electric drive.
“The forthcoming Škoda Epiq will offer exceptional value and a spacious interior in a compact body at a very attractive price. We are listening to our customers, which is why we are expanding the portfolio of pure electric cars into the small car segment,” said Zellmer.
The electric car, which Škoda places in the urban crossover category, will be 4.1 meters long, offer a range of over 400 kilometers on a single charge and a luggage compartment with a volume of 490 liters, which is roughly 100 liters less than you can find in the Škoda Octavia. A glass roof is also included.
“The design study of the Škoda Epiq model brings a modern design combined with a long range and user-friendly technologies. At the same time, affordability remains a key aspect,” added Zellmer.
The shape of the new product will be based on the newly set design language, which the car manufacturer from Mladá Boleslav calls Modern Solid. According to Škoda Auto chief designer Oliver Stefani, the new design style harmoniously combines smart functions and practicality with an attractive appearance.
For some time, Škoda has also been using names for its SUVs and electric cars that are created according to a uniform key. The names of all electric cars start with the letter E and for SUVs they always end with Q.
For the small crossover SUV presented today, the automaker chose the name Škoda Epiq according to this specification, which is based on the English word epic, meaning epic or magnificent, which for a change originates from the ancient Greek word epos.
