Skoda showed a teaser of a new inexpensive crossover

The new product is aimed at the Indian market. The official debut will take place next year

This is the third Skoda model developed in India. Now the Kushaq crossover and the Slavia sedan are already being produced here. The Czech company has confirmed that it is working on a new SUV for the Indian market, which will hit the roads in the first half of 2025.

The company has published a teaser sketch that focuses on the front of the future model. The slim LED headlights are reminiscent of the European Skoda Kamiq, and the air intakes are enlarged to match the lines of the grille. We can also see the sharp edges of the hood and roof rails, a typical feature of many off-road models.

The crossover will be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, a low-cost version of the VW Group’s MQB developed by Skoda for emerging markets. This means that the new product will receive the same technologies as the Skoda Slavia/Kushaq and VW Virtus/Taigun. These models are available with 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter petrol powertrains. There are two transmissions to choose from – a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG robotic. Drive is front-wheel drive only.

At less than 4m in length, the crossover will be the smallest in Skoda’s global portfolio, behind the Fabia (4,108mm), Kushaq (4,225mm) and Kamiq (4,241mm). Competitors in India include Citroen New C3, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Toyota Raize and Tata Nexon.

The name of the new model will be determined later this year as part of the #NameYourSkoda social media campaign. Skoda customers and fans in India will choose from seven registered names including Kymaq, Kariq, KwIQ, Kylaq and Kyroq. As you can see, all variants start with K and end with Q, in line with Skoda’s global crossover naming strategy.
