Mikaela Shiffrin separated from her historic coach Mike Day in the middle of the Courchevel/Méribel World Championships. The American team announced it on Wednesday, on the eve of a giant of which the ski superstar will be the favorite.
“Mikaela will continue with a new team and with the support of the American team coaches for the rest of the season and in the future. The team would like to thank Mike Day for his hard work and success over the past seven years“, writes Team USA in a press release.
After her silver medal in the super-G last week, Mikaela Shiffrin presents herself as the big favorite in the giant on Thursday then in the slalom on Saturday which will be disputed in Méribel.
In 2022, a few weeks before the Beijing Olympics, Shiffrin had already thanked one of his coaches, Jeff Lackie, responsible for physical preparation and speed. He had been replaced in the spring by the Austrian Mark Mitter as assistant coach, still in office.
