The Swiss intend to end the World Championships in Méribel in a good way. In Saturday’s slalom (RTS 2, 10 a.m./1.30 p.m.), they have a good chance of winning a medal thanks to the unmissable Wendy Holdener from Schwyz.
This season, the skier from Unteriberg has finally overcome the Indian sign…and her 2 main adversaries, Mikaela Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova. Only following her 2 victories at Killington and Sestriere, Wendy Holdener had to breathe and digest her victories. Third in Spindleruv Mlyn’s first slalom, the Schwytzoise had made a huge mistake during the second race. But with her 2 silver medals in combined and in parallel, the one who will be 30 years old in May can ski with a free mind.
Quadruple world champion in slalom, tanned 2 years ago, Mikaela Shiffrin obviously enjoys the status of super favourite, and even more following the gold won in giant. But the lady with 85 World Cup successes knows that the competition is there to take advantage of the slightest misstep. Besides Wendy Holdener, Petra Vlhova and most recently Lena Dürr managed to beat her in the special.
