Alexander Schmid (fishing) won gold in the parallel competition at the Alpine Ski World Championships.
The 28-year-old prevailed once morest the Austrian Dominik Raschner in the final and secured the first medal for the German Ski Association (DSV) in the title fights in France. In the parallel event, which was only held for the second time following 2021, it was the first German gold.
It was the first German World Cup victory in ten years. In 2013, Maria Höfl-Riesch triumphed in the combination. Hansjörg Tauscher won the last men’s individual gold medal at a World Ski Championships in 1989 in Vail in the downhill.
