Can Michelle Gisin (28) start the last race of the season? She wants to decide on Sunday morning. The reason for their doubts is a painful crash on Saturday.
Review. Second at halftime, Gisin can dream of winning the slalom in Méribel. She drives really well in the second race too. Gisin is 47 hundredths ahead of the eventual winner Andreja Slokar (24, Sln) in the first split. But Gisin threads in, takes a heavy hit on the knee and flies off violently. The combination Olympic champion drives to the finish, but from there straight to the hotel.
The all-clear soon came: Gisin was not seriously injured, the ligaments in his knees are intact. But her hip hurts. And the pain won’t go away. On the contrary. In the evening she writes Blick: “It hurts a little more at the iliac crest. A bruise.”
Also Holdener and Co. not fit
The Swiss technical team doesn’t quite walk, but almost on crutches. Wendy Holdener (7th in slalom) lacks rhythm following her cut on her calf. And Camille Rast (rank 18) feels the consequences of her knee bruise. “At least I got over my fear. But I’m not in the giant slalom.”
What that means? Simple: Lara Gut-Behrami will have to hold up the Swiss flag on Sunday. However, the Ticino is also tired. Everyone will be happy when the season is over soon.
