Does he start in Schladming on Wednesday?
Odermatt’s therapy progress gives hope
Whether Marco Odermatt returns from Schladming in the night giant slalom on Wednesday also depends on Tuesday’s training session at the Reiteralm.
Marco Odermatt’s use in Schladming is still questionable.
Five giant slaloms, four wins, a third place: Marco Odermatt has put his stamp on every giant this season so far. But does he have to pass in this discipline for the first time on Wednesday?
After his meniscus contusion in Kitzbühel, the 25-year-old from Nidwalden had already declared a forfait for the second Hahnenkamm downhill to protect his knee a little. It remains to be seen when he will make his comeback. According to Blick information, the decision as to whether it is already enough for the night giant slalom on Wednesday in Schladming (1st run from 5.45 p.m.) will not be made until Wednesday followingnoon.
Stress test should provide clarity
Odermatt will complete a training session on the Reiteralm on Tuesday. This stress test is intended to show how the knee of the overall World Cup leader is actually doing. What gives hope: The conservative treatment is working well so far.
lucky: Odermatt almost falls, but can save himself(00:19)
Odermatt was only able to avert a fall in extremis on Friday’s first downhill run in Kitzbühel, but then complained of knee pain. After initial investigations, however, the all-clear was given – the World Championships, which start on February 6th in Courchevel/Méribel, are not in danger. (mwp/mpe)
