Former ski star Marcel Hirscher (33) lands the next big coup with his ski brand Van Deer. After the eight-time overall World Cup winner recently signed Henrik Kristoffersen (28), his former arch-rival, he is now teaming up with Red Bull.
A step that comes as no surprise. After all, the company was Hirscher’s sponsor for years. Now they are pooling their knowledge and founding Van Deer-Red Bull Sports Equipment GmbH together. “Red Bull is a long-time supporter and partner of mine,” Hirscher is quoted as saying in the corresponding message. “We represent the same values and pursue the same sporting vision. I know that by working together we can take skiing to the next level.”
Reach new level
The merger also includes the swallowing up of the Augment ski brand – including its production site in Stuhlfelden (Austria). However, this brand will remain as such. And drivers like the two Austrian speed specialists Max Franz (32) and Christoph Krenn (28) will continue to ride with these slats. Her compatriot and ski jumper Manuel Fettner (37) will continue to have Augment as a supplier.
Even following his career, Hirscher sets himself high goals. With the new company, he not only wants to take skiing to a new level – both in top-level and popular sports – but also in a wide variety of disciplines. Whether alpine, Nordic or freerider – everyone should achieve the maximum with their skis. (bir)
