The Four Hills Tournament for women ski jumpers is scheduled to celebrate its premiere in December 2023. The Austrian (ÖSV) and the German Ski Association (DSV) announced on Thursday that they had come to an agreement with the International Ski Association (FIS). It is planned that the stations in Germany will be crossed parallel to the men’s tour. While the men start in Oberstdorf, the women’s first station takes place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The second station – the New Year’s competition – will be with the women in Oberstdorf. How things will continue in Austria is still open. According to its announcement, the ÖSV is examining “various options at the possible locations”. In any case, the intention of the association is to create “a high-quality series of events on a permanent basis” analogous to the men’s tour. This took place for the 70th time last winter. In Austria, traditional jumping takes place in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen.
The ski jumping women had increasingly vehemently demanded the introduction of the tournament for women. Around the turn of the year, alternatives were discussed in Austria and Slovenia. That seems to be off the table now.
As the joint statement went on to say, the ÖSV, DSV and the FIS also agreed to support another series within the Women’s World Cup. In particular, the places that are currently on the traditional date of the Four Hills Tournament in the World Cup calendar should be “created an attractive platform at a later point in the course of the season”.
