The overall World Cup leader from Salzburg, who was plagued by bad wind, only ended up in ninth place in the sixth competition of the season. Kraft started the winter with four wins and a second place. German local hero Karl Geiger celebrated a double victory at home, impressing with jumps of 141.0 and 141.5 m, just like on Saturday.
The best ÖSV Adler was Manuel Fettner, who had recently finished second in qualifying, and came sixth following a strong second round. The Swiss Gregor Deschwanden (-4.3 points) came second and was on a World Cup podium for the first time. Andreas Wellinger (-4.8), another German, came third and, like Deschwanden, set the hill record of 146.5 m in the second round.
“Unfortunately that was nothing,” said Kraft, who had to contend with significantly more tailwind compared to the competition, as he left the race. The other ÖSV Adler had a hard time on the jump right next to the Czech border. Daniel Tschofenig ended up in 16th place, Michael Hayböck was 21st and Jan Hörl, who has already been on the podium twice this season, mightn’t get past 23rd place. Daniel Huber, who missed the second round on Saturday, jumped back into the World Cup points in 25th place.
