After a hard winter, Stefan Kraft wants to get away. The ski jumping star explores the world with his wife Marisa for six weeks.
Munich – Austria’s best ski jumper of the last few years is making his escape: After a draining World Cup season, Stefan Kraft wants to recharge his batteries on a trip around the world. Flying is his thing – but in the next six weeks he won’t do it with two skis on, but with the plane.

Ski jumper Stefan Kraft takes a break: “I was very tired”
The Austrian daily newspaper Krone he reveals: “I was very tired, which my body also showed me. On the trip I will reorganize myself and set myself new goals.” The 29-year-old already has clear ideas regarding how the trip around the world with his wife Marisa, whom he married last year, should go.
“Bali comes first,” he reveals. This is to be followed by Sydney, where the two want to compete in the “Wings For Life World Run”. “Hawaii is also on our list, we definitely want to go there.” Her way back to Europe might lead her via Los Angeles and New York.
“The trainers weren’t enthusiastic at all”: Winter sports star Kraft on his trip around the world
The grand finale is planned for Paris. “We want to fly home via Paris and take the French Open with us,” he tells the public regarding his enviable plans. The start of training for the new season has been postponed by a month: while his colleagues have to start on May 1st, he won’t start until the beginning of June.
“The coaches weren’t too enthusiastic at first,” he laughs. In the meantime, however, they no longer have anything once morest the trip, “because they know that I like to be on the move and do sports even when I don’t have to.”
He has also already decided that he will immortalize the trip around the world on his skin – he wants to get a tattoo. “I’ll take one with me from the trip,” he announces. Hopefully Kraft won’t take an injury with him. In 2021 he injured himself playing football.
Stefan Kraft: The ski jumping star of the ÖSV
Kraft really deserves the break, the Austrian has had a strong season. He finished third in the overall World Cup. He has already won almost everything: the Four Hills Tournament, the overall World Cup, Raw Air and the Olympics as a team. You can treat yourself to something there.
The headlines in ski jumping recently belonged to Poland’s Dawid Kubacki. He fetched his seriously ill wife from the hospital – a “miracle” for him. (epp)
