Marco Odermatt won the Aspen Super-G. He beat Andreas Sander by 0”05 and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde by 0”34 to also pocket the globe of the discipline.
And one more globe for Odi! While waiting for the big globe and that of the giant, the Nidwalden has made the Super-G crystal ball his own, his 3rd following the general’s globe last year and that of the giant 21/22.
Like the day before downhill, Odermatt conceded a lot of time on the flat part of the top of the route. But the Nidwalden master knew how to be imperial on the curves that followed. On these supports left foot and right foot to negotiate at high speed, “Super Marco” feasted.
The Hergiswil skier still had a little thrill when the German Andreas Sander, who started just behind him, failed at only 5 hundredths. But following this pressure, no one managed to get close to the boss’ times.
Two Valaisans in the top-10
Even Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, however masterful in the sliding part, lost 0.83 in the last 32 seconds of the race. This is the 20th World Cup victory for the Nidwalden, the 9th in Super-G.
The other Swiss had a good race, in particular Loïc Meillard and Justin Murisier. The skier from Hérémence finished 5th at 0”51, while the Bagnard took a very good 8th place at 0”75. Gino Caviezel finished 14th, Niels Hintermann 17th, Gilles Roulin 22nd and Stefan Rogentin 24th.
