The retired Lebanese artist, Amal Hijazi, published x-rays revealing that she had more than one fracture in her leg, following an accident, through her personal account on the “Instagram” website.
And she wrote: “I had a strong accident. We remember her when we lose her.”
And she continued: “Yeah, I loved and prayed that a person, if he is in full health and is able to get up and sit, is the greatest blessing that we forget, and we return to remembering it when we lose it.
And she added: “If a person gets sick and asks him for all his money to recover, he will not be late, not for a moment, that he loses all his money in return for his health. God heals every patient.”
In the following report, we mention to you the causes of a broken foot, its symptoms and treatment, and complications, according to what was reported on the “mayoclinic” website.
What are the causes of a broken foot?
A broken foot refers to an injury to the bone, and it may occur due to a car accident or a simple fall.
Their severity varies, and can range from tiny cracks in the bones to fractures that penetrate the skin.
Symptoms:
If you fracture your foot, you may experience some of the following signs and symptoms:
severe pain
Pain that increases with activity and decreases with rest.
swelling.
bruises
Pain when touching the fracture site.
Difficulty walking or carrying anything.
– the reasons:
1. Car accidents
Car accident injuries cause fractures that require surgical intervention.
2. The fall
Tripping and falling can break your ankle bones, as can landing on your feet following jumping from a small height.
3. Hitting a heavy weight
Dropping something heavy on your feet is a common cause of foot fractures.
4. Moving the wrong way
Moving the wrong way can sometimes lead to broken bones.
5. Long-distance running
Stress fractures are common in the weight-bearing bones of your feet.
Risk factors:
You may be more susceptible if you:
1. Participation in high-impact sports such as basketball, football, gymnastics, tennis, and soccer can cause foot fractures.
2. Using defective sports methods or equipment, such as improperly sized shoes, leading to stress fractures and falls.
Inappropriate training methods, such as not doing stretching exercises, can also cause foot injuries.
3. Sudden increases in frequency or duration of exercise sessions can increase your risk of stress fracture.
4. Some work environments, such as construction sites, can put you at risk of falling from a great height or dropping something heavy on your feet.
5. Walking around the house with a lot of clutter or in low light can lead to falls and ankle injuries.
6. Having a lack of bone density (osteoporosis) can put you at risk of injuries to the bones of the foot.
Complications:
1. Arthritis:
Fractures that extend into a joint can cause arthritis.
2. Bone infection (osteomyelitis):
If you have an open fracture, meaning one end of the bone is sticking out of the skin, your bone may be exposed to infection-causing bacteria.
3. Damage to nerves or blood vessels:
A fracture in the foot may affect nearby nerves and blood vessels, and sometimes rupture them.
protection:
Wear appropriate shoes:
It is important to choose appropriate athletic shoes for the sport you are playing.
Replace your sneakers regularly:
You should get rid of your athletic shoes as soon as the sole or heel wears out.
Make sure to strengthen your bones:
Calcium-rich foods, such as milk, yogurt, and cheese, in addition to taking vitamin D supplements, can help strengthen your bones.
Night lighting use:
Many broken fingers are the result of walking in the dark.
Organize your home:
Keeping your home clutter-free can help you avoid missteps and falls.
