A spectacular Big Air World Cup final was held today in Beijing, where Salzburg’s Matej Svancer showed that he is setting new standards in freeskiing with his creative and unique style. Svancer was able to show the NBD (never-be-done) jump from the qualification once more and received 92.75 points for the so-called Baron flip, which was the highest single score of the day. On his third run, a switch left double 1440 nollie 180, he wasn’t able to hold his grab as desired, but still impressed with a unique landing that can only be shown by Svancer. “With Matej’s third jump we wanted to show something new once more, the difficulty was in the landing. This jump would have been very well received by the judges and might have been enough for a podium, unfortunately the grave wasn’t clean. We will now continue to travel to the USA and increase the training focus on slopestyle before continuing on December 14th in Copper Mountain,” explains head coach Martin Premstaller.
Unfortunately, a good jump in qualification was not enough for Daniel Bacher (25th place) and Lukas Müllauer (28th place) to make it to the strong final in Beijing. “On my first jump in the qualification I just wanted too much and then mightn’t land the switch 18 cleanly, my second jump was good and on my third jump I missed the grab. “It just turned out stupidly, it’s a shame,” said Lukas Müllauer.
