Sotheby’s Auctions announced today, Tuesday, a skeleton display dinosaur 76 million years old for sale at auction in New York.
The auction house said the skeleton of the gorgosaurus will be auctioned at Sotheby’s on July 28.
Gorgosaurus dinosaurs were major carnivores that lived in what is now the western United States and Canada during the late 1960s. Cretaceous period. It preceded Tyrannosaurus Rex by ten million years.
Sotheby’s previously estimated the fossil at between $5 million and $8 million.
“In my career, I’ve had the privilege of handling and selling many exceptional and unique things,” Sotheby’s head of science and popular culture, Cassandra Hutton, told the Associated Press.
