We like to let go, to let ourselves be carried away“, says one of them. “The ice is very smooth, it froze slowly, there was no passage. We zigzag between the trees, it’s nice“, adds his brother.
However, there are barely a few centimeters of ice under their skates and more than a meter of water in places. The activity involves risks. This is why the two brothers advise against this activity for beginners. “You have to be aware of the danger. You don’t have to go headlong. We have been doing this for three years, we know the safest and most dangerous places well.“. His brother specifies: “You have to listen carefully to the ice cream“.
In Étalle, as in other Belgian municipalities, police regulations prohibit driving on the ice of canals, basins and watercourses, without prior authorization from the mayor.
