Game News Skate 4: Electronic Arts’ cult license might return sooner than expected according to these leaks

As we know, the cult Skate license from Electronic Arts is due to make a comeback soon, more than ten years following the last opus. If for the moment almost no information has been communicated by the studio except the announcement of active development, new leaks might indicate a premature return.

The king of sliding back soon?

Skate is one of Electronic Arts’ cult licenses. If the studio has not released an opus since Skate 3 in 2010, we already know that a new episode is in preparation. The studio has also published a dedicated website to follow the news of the license via various social networks. But while the communication around this new title is still discreet, recent leaks might well indicate that the development of the game would be much more advanced than we imagined.

The information comes from eXputer who would have unearthed traces in the API of Origin of a “Project Dingo” making direct reference to Skate. And still according to this source, the next installment of the license would have entered the testing phase with controllers in hand. We can therefore imagine that the title is already well advanced, and that EA might communicate regarding it shortly.

Faced with competition, towards a reboot of the license?

According to these leaks, Skate 4 would not be numbered, but would opt for the name “Skate.” which suggests a kind of reboot for the license. On the content side, there is already mention of important customization tools, a map editor and the possibility of climbing surfaces. So be careful, all of this is still pure speculation. For the moment, Electronic Arts has not yet confirmed anything but this leak as well as recent statements by the CEO of Electronic Arts bode well.

Obviously, fans expect a lot from this new opus. What’s more, Electronic Arts faces more competition than before as many sliding games begin to stand out. With the releases of Riders Republic, OlliOlli World, Shredders or even direct competitors such as Skater XL, Session : Skateboarding Sim Game and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, the video game landscape of board sports is beginning to be provided. We obviously hope with all our hearts that Electronic Arts will be able to do well, and we expect more information soon.
