SK Eco Plant announced on the 4th that it has decided to produce eco-friendly cement and pyrolysis oil by utilizing waste resources generated at the airport through cooperation in the recycling business with Incheon International Airport Corporation.

On this day, SK Eco Plant signed a business agreement (MOU) with Incheon International Airport Corporation to ‘establish a resource circulation economy at Incheon Airport.’ The agreement ceremony held at Incheon International Airport Corporation was attended by officials including SK Eco Plant President Park Kyung-il and Incheon Airport President Lee Hak-jae.

According to the agreement, both companies will build a test bed to produce high value-added recycled products from general, designated, and construction waste generated at Incheon Airport.

SK Eco Plant plans to use waste resources supplied from Incheon Airport to produce products such as pyrolysis oil, which are raw materials for aviation fuel and petrochemical products, biogas, and eco-friendly cement.

Technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DT) developed by SK Eco Plant will also be applied to Incheon Airport’s own gray water treatment facility and resource recovery facility. Through the incinerator AI operation optimization solution developed for the first time in Korea, we plan to maintain the incinerator temperature constant to reduce pollutant emissions and increase energy recovery rate.

SK Eco Plant’s waste management solution ‘WAYBLE’ is applied to manage the entire process from waste discharge to treatment and resource circulation on a digital basis. We plan to convert related information into data to support Incheon Airport’s transparent waste management and ESG management.

Park Kyung-il, CEO of SK Eco Plant, said, “It is significant that we are realizing a resource circulation model by joining hands with Incheon International Airport, a global hub airport,” and added, “We will create a sustainable city and realize a circular economy through SK Eco Plant’s climate change response solutions.” “We will fulfill our role as a representative environmental company,” he said.
