Six people arrested for “inciting hatred” through TikTok

Security forces in different states of the country arrested a total of six people last week, who are accused of “inciting hatred” through videos on the social network TikTok.

According to digital portals, members of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) led the arrests that were carried out in Carabobo, Zulia and Bolívar.

One of the first arrests took place in the Naguanagua municipality of Carabobo. Specifically in the Mañongo urbanization, the TikTokers Richard Jesús Hidalgo Ponce, Jhonatan José Novoa Niño and Emilse Mayerline Castellano Araiz were arrested.

Police reports indicate that agents from the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM) participated in the arrest of the individuals. The three are accused of “creating content and uploading it to social networks inciting hatred and violence,” in addition to the fact that the posts were “against those affiliated with the Government.”

Randy Javier Aguilar was arrested on the border between the states of Carabobo and Cojedes, specifically at a checkpoint in Taguanes. He is accused of allegedly participating in acts of vandalism against a voting center in Tinaco (Cojedes).

TWO MORE CASES

Jorge Luis Palmar Paz was arrested in the Mara municipality of Zulia state. He is accused of publishing “hostile and obscene videos” addressing President Nicolás Maduro through the TikTok platform.

In the Gran Sabana municipality of Bolívar state, security officials arrested Jairo José Abreu Palmare. He appears in videos of the “acts of violence” recorded on July 29, one day after the presidential election.

All the suspects are under the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and proceedings have been opened against them for “inciting hatred.” They are also part of the list of more than 2,000 people detained by the authorities after the elections where the National Electoral Council announced Maduro as the winner.
