This Monday, the Investigative Police (PDI) completed the arrest of six Mapuche community members linked to the homicide of Pedro Cabrera and Pablo Burgos, farmers who were shot to death in October and November 2020, respectively, in the commune of Collipulli, Region of La Araucanía.
According to police information, this procedure, carried out by the Homicide Brigade (BH) of the PDI and the High Complexity Prosecutor’s Office, was carried out during the early hours of the morning in the José Millacheo community, in the town of Curaco, and ended with six detainees and the seizure of drugs and weapons.
Regarding the proceedings, the regional prosecutor, Roberto Garrido, explained that “during the elapsed time of the investigation we managed to gather a series of antecedents, specifically testimonial evidence and also expert reports, which allow us to position several people in the homicides. In that context, this entry and search order was requested, as well as the arrest of the people we believe were involved up to this point.”
Likewise, the pursuer reported that marijuana and firearms were seized during the search.
From the PDI, Prefect Luis Garrido explained that this procedure “involved four permanent institutions of the State: control and justice sector, Carabineros, Army and the certain support of the Public Ministry, which made it possible to obtain all the necessary input to in some way deal with these cases.”
“In such a way that today efficient results might be achieved, what we have already pointed out, the arrest of four accused in the crime and in addition to the other two people for violation of the drug law and the weapons law,” said the police officer
