SISM 2023: “At all ages of life, my mental health is a right”

The 34^e edition of Mental Health Information Weeks (SISM) will be held from October 9 to 22, 2023on the subject “At all ages of life, my mental health is a right”. See all events on the dedicated website.

At every age, mental health requires an adapted response. The objective, by posing mental health as a “ right at all ages of life » is above all to question the conditions – existing or not – to be put in place collectively so that this right can be effective.

This theme will mainly cover three ages of life:
– the mental health of children, because of the taboo that has long been associated with it, while childhood lays the foundations for the mental health of individuals – the difficulties and violence experienced during it have a lasting impact;
– mental health of youth and young adults since the vulnerability of individuals to psychological disorders during this period of life rich in changes must favor their early detection.
– Finally, mental health will be addressed from the perspective of aging : older people have even more right to mental health as it overlaps with often declining physical health. In addition, the WHO recently sounded the alarm about the mistreatment suffered by the elderly: our societies, by marginalizing old age, produce psychological distress among them.
