SIP expressed its rejection of the arrest of four journalists accused of terrorism

Four Venezuelan journalists were charged by the administration of Nicolas Maduro by the crime of terrorism and incitement of hatredan action that was categorically rejected by the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA)an entity that also raised its voice to condemn the increase in arbitrary arrests, censorship and blockades against the press in the country.

The organization whose headquarters are located in Miami, Florida (United States), expressed his disagreement with the attacks and harassment that the media that have been covering the demonstrations that have spread in Venezuela have been subjected to, after the results of the presidential elections of July 28 were announced, in which the National Electoral Council (CNE), proclaimed Nicolás Maduro without having received all the votes, as highlighted by Infobae.

Given this situation, the National Union of Press Workers (SNTP) and Ypis Venezuela, They recorded the deprivation of liberty of four journalists, who were charged with committing alleged terrorist acts and inciting hatred.

Among those arrested are the photojournalist from the state of Barinas, Yousner Alvarado; the cameraman of VPI TV in Trujillo state, Paul Leon; the photojournalist from Miranda state, Daisy Peñalike the journalist and political leader of the Guárico state, Jose Gregorio Carnero.

Also on this list is the journalist and opposition leader, Roland Carrenowho was arrested again on August 2, after being accused of alleged acts of violence and hatred.

Journalists are also imprisoned Carlos Julio Rojas since April and Ramon Centeno since February 2021, according to the SNTP. The seven remain in custody.
