The decision came out of an Assembly of teachers, which took place on the 24th, informed, this Monday, the general secretary of the union, Admar Jinguma.
Admar Jinguma explained that 7,498 teachers attended the meeting, to inform them regarding the results of the meeting with the Government held on the last 15th of this month, during which the employer requested a moratorium until the 16th of January, for presentation of new solutions to the problems contained in the claim booklet.
Thus, 3,751 teachers, representing 51 percent, voted in favor of the solution.
“For now, it is suspended, awaiting the meeting on January 16, 2023”, he underlined.
As the cause of the strike, the unionists point to single teaching in the 5th and 6th grades, the shared distribution of meals, the promotion of careers, as well as the reduction of the IRT.
In 2019, the union sent a claim booklet with 10 points and direct conversations took place between both parties, which resulted in the fulfillment of seven points.
According to the Ministry of Education (MED), single teaching, school meals and promotions or updating of categories are being resolved.
The National Union of Teachers (SINPROF) has already carried out two of the three planned phases of the stoppage, the first being from 23 to 30 November 2022, the second from 6 to 16 December of the same year and the last from 3 to 31 January from 2023.
