The former Lebanese Prime Minister, Fouad Siniora, considered that the decision of the International Tribunal for Lebanon yesterday to convict the two accused, Hussein Oneissi and Hassan Marei, of participating in the crime of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, reveals the involvement of the terrorist Hezbollah militia in the assassination.
In a statement yesterday, Siniora praised “the decision issued by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, which unanimously condemned the two defendants, Hussein Hassan Oneissi and Hassan Habib Marei, for the crime of participating and interfering with the crime of the assassination of Rafik Hariri, following it rescinded the verdict issued by the First Instance Chamber on August 18, 2020, which acquitted them.” ».
He said that the court’s decision “straightens the compass once more and reveals Hezbollah’s involvement in the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, and exposes the false allegations and practices of this party once morest Lebanon and the Lebanese, which makes it imperative for the party to hand over criminals to justice without any delay.”
Siniora considered that “this development comes to prove the correctness of the position taken by Lebanon in adopting the International Tribunal for the Prosecution of the Criminals who stood behind this heinous crime and their trial, especially when it is confirmed to us every day that the Lebanese judiciary is unable to detect a number of crimes committed in Lebanon.” To “the blatant inability to progress in uncovering the crime of the era, the crime of bombing the port of Beirut.”
