Singer Corneliu Arrested by Montreal Police for Failure to Appear in Court and Drugging Charges: Latest Updates

Singer Corneliu, who was wanted since last week because he did not appear in court, was arrested Wednesday evening by Montreal police.

This was confirmed by sources at The Press. Last Thursday, the Court issued an arrest warrant once morest the singer following he did not appear for his appearance. In the past, his lawyers had also admitted to having difficulty reaching him. A judge had also filed an attendance order for his appearance last week.

Best known since his time at Star Académie in 2004, Corneliu Munteanu is accused of having drugged two people on two different occasions, in 2013 and 2016.

More precisely, he is accused three years apart in 2013 and then in 2016, of having administered or caused his victims to consume “a poison, a destructive substance [ou] a noxious substance with the intent to afflict or torment such person,” the indictment states.

The main person concerned was the subject of an arrest warrant on November 10, 2022 in Montreal, and was arrested a few days later, on November 14.

Let us also recall that in July 2019, legal proceedings were abandoned once morest the singer in a case of theft from a Canadian Tire in Laval and conspiracy, according to the Montreal Journal.
