When does the clock start?

A Formula 1 race (including interruptions) may last a maximum of three hours. That is stipulated in the rules. But when does the clock start? From the planned start of the race (2:00 p.m.) or the actual one?

Opinions are currently divided on that. In other words, we don’t yet know how long we’ll be sitting here today. However, the rain has since subsided. So looks pretty good!

In the meantime, we’ll continue to wait.

Marko: Rain a chance

“The rain gives us more chances for Max,” he says on ‘Sky’. As is well known, the world champion will only start from P8. Marko also reveals: “The rain should subside.” That’s what it looks like at the moment.

“The question is: how quickly does it dry?” says Marko. You then have to “put on the right tires at the right time”. “Of course that opens up opportunities,” says Marko, who still expects a difficult race.

“If you are in front and then set the pace correctly, then you can [einem] Actually, the victory can no longer be taken,” says Marko, who is pushing the role of favorites in the direction of Ferrari and Leclerc.

1:32 p.m

More at 1:45 p.m

We still have no information on when it will start. At 1:30 p.m., the race control just gave out the short message that there should be more information in 15 minutes – i.e. at 1:45 p.m.

We keep waiting.

1:11 p.m

Start is delayed

And now we also have the confirmation: The start will be delayed, so the pit lane will not open at 1:20 p.m. There is no new start time yet, we are waiting for an update.

Vettel: “Pace not so bad”

The rain could help Sebastian Vettel, among others, to get a little ahead. “We have to see that we can somehow get past the crowd or get some fresh air at some point in the race,” he explains on ‘Sky’.

“And then, I think, our pace shouldn’t be that bad,” said Vettel. And of course the rain could help. Incidentally, the safety car has just checked the conditions. Let’s put it this way: I wouldn’t currently assume a punctual start …
