Singapore – Despite protests by human rights activists, a woman has been executed in Singapore for the first time in almost 20 years. A 45-year-old woman who was sentenced to death in 2018 for possessing nearly 31 grams of pure heroin (diamorphine) was hanged on Friday, the narcotics squad said. Human rights groups such as Amnesty International and celebrities had asked the authorities in the city-state to pardon the convicts.
