The Singaporean government has issued a travel restraint order for Sri Lanka, where protests calling for the resignation of the government have occurred due to the worst economic hardship and even killed people.

In a travel warning letter on the 12th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “Considering the current situation, it is strongly recommended that all non-essential travel to Sri Lanka be postponed.”

“Singaporeans in Sri Lanka are strongly advised to be vigilant for their safety and to take the necessary precautions,” it said.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged its citizens to avoid places where protests and large crowds gather.

In Sri Lanka, due to the worst economic crisis, protests demanding the resignation of the government have intensified since the 9th, and there have been great riots, including the burning of dozens of houses of the ruling Rajapaksa family and incumbent lawmakers.

At least nine people were killed and more than 250 injured in the process.

The Sri Lankan government, which initiated a national emergency on the 7th, issued a curfew on the afternoon of the 9th and ordered the military and police to fire.
