Simultaneous rallies by civil society organizations and the religious party Tehreek-e-Labeek Pakistan (TLP) in Karachi turned violent. Despite the announcement of tolerance march against religious extremism and the decision of Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan to hold a rally at the same place, despite the police blocking several highways of the city, including the Super Highway, the rally of the civil society was removed by removing the obstacles. Reached outside the club, where the protestors and the police clashed, the police also shelled the protestors. The police also detained 35 people, including women, for violating Section 144, while one person was killed in firing.
It should be noted that a tolerance march was announced in connection with the ongoing protest against the extrajudicial killing of Dr. Shahnawaz of Umarkot and the desecration of his body, in which the family members of Dr. Shahnawaz were also supposed to participate.
Sindhu Nawaz, head of the Tolerance March, told the BBC that her house in Hyderabad was raided last night. Apart from this, the houses of nationalist leaders Niaz Kalani and Riyaz Chandio were raided and detained.
