Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has said that the project of Bundal and Badu Islands of Karachi will be worked on by removing the concerns of the Sindh government and it will provide employment to one and a half lakh people.
While giving a press conference in Karachi, Governor Sindh said that the world is recognizing the Prime Minister as an environment-friendly one and we are worried that Bundal and Badu are going to spoil the environment of the island.
He said that there is only one reason for the vision of the Prime Minister regarding this project that Pakistan gets foreign capital, Pakistan is hungry for foreign capital at this time, in the case of Ravi River City and Bundal Island, for Pakistan at this time. There are two major projects
He said that ‘no one should think that the right of Sindh is being killed, but Sindh is being given its right, these islands will remain in Sindh and they cannot be taken anywhere else’.
Imran Ismail said that the capital and income of these islands will be given to the government of Sindh and will be spent in Sindh and this guarantee has been given by the Prime Minister and he asked me to go and inform about it and I am speaking in this regard. ‘.
Claiming to get employment on a large scale, he said that ‘more than one and a half lakh employment opportunities will be created. Due to non-existence, that place is left completely empty’.
He said that tourism will increase in Sindh because of these islands, there is no development work in our coastal belt, so there is no tourism, no foreigners will come to Hawke’s Bay because the road is bad there and truck bases have become. have been’.
Governor Sindh said that ‘all facilities will be provided in these islands, this is a project after which they will be able to compete with any island in the world including Dubai’.
He said that we have to address all their concerns together with the Sindh government.
He said that ‘we want the government of Sindh to come in this project in full coordination and partnership with the federal government so that we can present an integrated plan’.
Imran Ismail said that this project will not be successful until we are on the same page, if the Sindh government has concerns about the ordinance, then it can be discussed, if there are concerns about the environment and capital, then it can also be discussed. The matter is over’.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had instructed Governor Sindh Imran Ismail last week to consult with the provincial government to find a solution to the issues related to the project.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office, it was said that in the meeting with the Governor of Sindh, the Prime Minister said that the ‘Bundle Island project will create immense opportunities for investment and employment’.
According to the statement, the chairman of the Pakistan Island Development Authority, created by a controversial presidential ordinance, was also present, though the fact remains that no one has been appointed to the post so far.
When asked in this regard, government sources told Dawn that Imran Amin had attended the meeting as acting chairman of PIDA.
It should be remembered that without taking Parliament into confidence, President Arif Alvi enacted the Pakistan Islands Development Authority Ordinance 2020 to help give control of these two islands off the coast of Karachi to the federal government.
The purpose of which is the continuous process of restoration of these islands, master planning, urban planning and development of these two islands as commercial, logistics centers, duty free areas and international tourist destination.
The implementation of the PIDA Ordinance was strongly criticized by Sindh’s ruling party Pakistan People’s Party and the decision was rejected.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called this move against the illegal annexation of the occupied commissar by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Sindh government termed this move as ‘illegal annexation of the islands of Sindh through a presidential ordinance by the PTI government’.
The PPP chairman had alleged that the federal government ‘wants to annex the islands that are owned by the province to bring financial benefits to their friendly investors by allowing them to build housing and tourism and other such projects. which is the exploitation of the people of the province while under the 18th amendment these islands were handed over to the provinces.
