“I’m really sorry” at the warrant review… Police review the identity of the suspect
Jeon, a 31-year-old Seoul Metro employee, was arrested on the 16th for the murder of a female station worker in her 20s in a women’s restroom at Sindang Station on Seoul Subway Line 2.
Kim Se-yong, chief judge in charge of warrants of the Seoul Central District Court, issued a warrant saying, “There is a risk of destroying evidence and escaping” following interrogating the suspect before his arrest.
Jeon was arrested on the 14th of this month at 9 pm on the charge of stalking the victim at Sindang Station and killing him with a knife.
The victim was taken to hospital, but died.
At the time of the victim’s first complaint in October of last year, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Jeon, but the court rejected it.
On that day, Jeon appeared in court in a sky blue top, black shorts and slippers, with tangled hair with a bandage on his left hand.
After the warrant review, which lasted for regarding 27 minutes from 3 pm, he said, “I’m sorry” to the reporter’s question, ‘Do you have anything to say to the victim?’
‘What was the motive for the crime?
When asked if there was anything else to say to the victim other than saying sorry to the victim, he briefly replied, “Yes, I’m really sorry.”
Previously, the Seobu Police Station in Seoul received complaints from victims in October of last year and January of this year on charges of violating the Punishment of Sexual Violence Act and the Punishment of Stalking Act, respectively, and reported that the charges were acknowledged and sent Chun to the prosecution in March of this year.
While on trial without detention, Jeon committed the crime a day before the first trial sentence.
The police are considering applying a charge of retaliatory crime to Chun.
The suspect’s identity disclosure committee will also be held soon to decide whether or not to disclose the identity of the suspect.
