This film carries the essence of the famous book of the same name by Robinne Lee, published in 2017, bringing to life the love story of Solène and Hayes. The film will be released globally on Prime Video on May 2.
Adapted from the famous contemporary love story of the same name, The Idea of You focuses on Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mother, who begins an unexpected love story with Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of the world’s most popular boyband August Moon. 24 years old. When Solène has to fill in for her ex-husband to accompany her teenage daughter to the Coachella music festival, she meets Hayes by chance and immediately feels a strong attraction.
Not long after they begin a heady romance, Hayes’ superstar status presents inevitable challenges to their relationship, and Solène soon realizes life under the media spotlight may be more than she bargained for.
The Idea of You marks director Michael Showalter’s return to the SXSW Film Festival after six years. Showalter premiered his film debut at SXSW and showcased projects such as Hello My Name is Doris (2015) and The Big Sick (2017). Both projects won the Audience Award at the festival.
The Idea of You also released an official trailer which provides a glimpse of the romance and twists and turns of Solène and Hayes’ relationship. The title song from the film’s soundtrack featured in the trailer, Dance Before We Walk, is also available now via Arista Records.
