THE NUMBER of Simpeda Savings customers continues to grow, reaching 8.3 million customers spread throughout Indonesia. The total customer money managed by Simpeda Savings reaches IDR 1,000 trillion.

“From the perspective of savers’ balances, it can’t reach IDR 72 trillion. “Meanwhile, BPD assets as a whole are almost 1,000 trillion,” explained Bank Sumut President Director Babay Parid Wazdi, in a written statement received in Jakarta, Saturday (27/4).

With the rapid growth of customers, the Association of Regional Development Banks (Asbanda) and Bank Sumut held a National Simpeda Savings Lottery for the 2nd Period of Year XXXIV-2024. This activity took place at the Niagara Parapat Hotel, Simalungun, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), Wednesday, April 24 2024. Also present at the drawing activity were the Regional Secretary of North Sumatra Province (Sumut) Arief Sudarto, General Chair of Asbanda Yuddy Renaldi, along with officials from the Organization Regional (OPD) city/district of North Sumatra Province.

“The Simpeda Savings Lottery for the 2nd Period of Year XXXIV-2024 has a total prize of IDR 3 billion,” explained Babay.

On the same occasion, General Chairperson of Asbanda, Yuddy Renaldi, added that Simpeda’s savings along the way continued to develop. This is reflected in the continuing increase in funds collected. As of the end of December 2023, there were 8.32 million Simpeda savings customers with a total Simpeda savings balance of IDR 72.54 trillion.

“Compared to the previous Simpeda savings lottery period in Padang in 2023, there was an increase in number of accounts (NOA) by 446,927 customers or an increase of 5.68 percent, while the total balance increased by IDR 2.36 trillion or an increase of 3.36 percent,” explained Yuddy. .

He continued, the number of BPDs that collect the most Simpeda savings funds is currently still ‘held’ by Bank Jatim. It was recorded that until December 2023, the amount of funds collected at Bank Jatim was IDR 16.54 trillion or 28.8 percent of national Simpeda savings.

Meanwhile, Arief Sudarto said that the momentum of the Simpeda Savings Draw which was attended by all BPDs in Indonesia should be used as an opportunity to share knowledge and experience.

“Of course we can also explore collaboration opportunities in developing digital financial service innovation products, amidst intense competition between BPDs and domestic and foreign financial institutions,” he said.

In the midst of this competition, Arief said, his party as the Controlling Shareholder of Bank Sumut appreciates the company’s performance, because it is still able to increase its assets every year and continues to contribute to increasing Regional Original Income (PAD).

“Including Bank Sumut, in 2023 Bank Sumut was able to record a net profit of IDR 740 billion, growing 5.62 percent year on year compared to 2022, where 80 percent of the profit was recorded as dividends,” he said.

Despite scoring a positive performance, Arief reminded all BPD not to be complacent. The reason is that banking competition is getting tougher, especially in the digital era. All banks are competing to serve customers through digital financial services.

“This is according to the BPD to carry out transformation. We observe that BPD continues to carry out transformation by building a digital ecosystem through collaborative strategies with various providers and fintech business entities. “We should give positive appreciation for this, especially for Bank Sumut,” he said.

The 2nd Period Simpeda Savings National Lottery Draw for the Year XXXIV-2024 was witnessed and ratified by representatives from social services, the police and a notary.

The main or first prize winner worth IDR 500 million was won by a customer from Bank Kalsel. Apart from the main prize, the Simpeda lottery also drew the 2nd winner for 4 winners of IDR 100 million each.

The first winner for the Rp. 100 million prize was won by a Bank Sumut customer named Penawarta Sembiring from the Tanjung Anom sub-branch (capem) of Bank Sumut. Then, there are also Bank Kalteng, Bank BPD Bali, and Bank Jatim.
