“She is an icon and legendary”

At the press conference after the competition, the Americans explain their “podium coup”

– Rebeca is so fantastic. She is a “queen”, says Biles and continues:

– To begin with, it was an “all-black” podium, only that was gratifying for us. Jordan asked me “shall we bow to her?” and yes said “absolutely”.

– She is so fantastic to see. All the fans always praise her in the arena. That’s why we did it. So it felt like the right thing to do.

Jordan Chiles agrees:

– She is an icon and legend herself. The hard work she has put in and the determination she has should be recognized.

Fourth medal for Andrade

Rebeca Andrade has been Simone Biles’ main competitor and rival during the Paris Games. The Brazilian finished second to Biles in both the all-around and event finals in jumping. In addition, she and her Brazilian teammates took bronze in the team event. With the gold in the individual, the Brazilian finishes with as many medals as Biles (four).

And even before, Biles East has words of praise for Andrade.

– I don’t want to fight with Rebeca any more, it wears me out, haha. No one has ever been this close. I’m getting uncomfortable that she’s so good, Biles said after the all-around gold earlier this week.
