Sime Vrsaljko announces his retirement from football at the age of 31

Right-back Sime Vrsaljko has decided to end his career as a professional footballer at the age of 31, following failing to land a new team earlier this year. Vrsaljko, who has played in renowned teams such as Atlético de Madrid and Inter Milan, has also been a World Cup player and has participated in a Euro Cup with his team.

The former player has also enjoyed a successful career at Dinamo Zagreb, where he won four local tournament titles and two more in the Croatian Cup. In the 2021 season, with Atlético de Madrid, he became La Liga champion and in 2018, he managed to win the Europa League.

Vrsaljko had signed with Olympiakos of Greece earlier this season, but his link with the team broke in just six months, leaving him without a team and without options to continue playing professionally. Despite his short career, Vrsaljko leaves a legacy as one of the best right-backs in European football.

The news of Vrsaljko’s retirement has caused a great impact in the world of football, especially among fans of Atlético de Madrid and the Croatian national team. The former player has been remembered as a great defender and a highly talented player who has left his mark on the teams in which he has played.
