It went viral on social media the video of an interview with Silvina Luna conducted by Susana Gimenez eight years ago. Not without reason, in these moments where the famous young woman is fighting for her life, since the conversation that arose between her and the diva resignifies her awareness of health in the face of exposure to surgeries, and in contrast to Susana, insists on the discourse of the value of the aesthetic image.
The conversation between the two women seems like a script for a spot regarding awareness of the risks of performing invasive interventions in pursuit of aesthetics. And in retrospect, it is understandable that eight years ago Silvina Luna took a different position, following learning regarding the presence of methacrylate in the blood that produced the surgical intervention.
The clipping of the interview was viralized by the Tiktok account @yetitvok, and later shared by other fashion influencers on other social networks.
“Did you do a little more once more?” Susana questioned, and Luna already from the start sought to clarify her situation, interrupted by the enthusiasm of the driver: “Yes, they put me on, but well, at that moment they never explained to me… .”. “No, it was brutal on you. And I have the photo. Let’s show the photo,” she asked the production, and asked for silence behind the scenes.
Then Luna emphasized: “It’s a health issue…”. But ignoring it, Susana Giménez added: “Look, the one on the left was like her. A mermaid, an impressive thing.” And Luna replied: “I’m still very ashamed.”
So the young woman tried to bring the conversation to her situation, without success: “I discovered over the years that I can lead a life and feel much more beautiful and full, without the need for surgery.” “But did you see that photo of you, baby?”, the diva resumed. “But not everything is the body,” she replied, unscathed in her attempt to make herself heard. “But look at the body you had there. It is perfect!”.
Silvina Luna insisted on her mission to bring awareness to the audience: “Okay Susana, but you have to give a message that not everything is that. Because people are obsessed with having a body like that. And surgeries are done, and I went through it. And you risk your life. So you don’t have to say ‘that’s divine’. You have to communicate things well. I am not here to show that. You have to be like that, you have to do anything”.
The video shows a closure for the delirium, with an enthusiastic interviewer, who did not listen to her interviewee: “Because you were born perfect, that’s what’s incredible.”
In the interview, Luna narrated the entire story regarding her health, as might be seen in more videos that circulated on the YouTube social network: “In 2010 I did studies and they were all perfect and in 2011 I had surgery. In 2013 I did the routine studies and it came out that I had hypercalcemia, excess calcium in the blood that caused me to have mild kidney failure. I start to investigate and I find out that in the Italian Hospital there was four cases of girls who had injected themselves with the same filler: with hypercalcemia, with kidney problems and some with major problems. A girl was on dialysis.”
On the Instagram account @vivalamodablog they shared the video in a story, where they reported “yesterday I saw @solcardiello’s stories and I was surprised. I had never seen it. It’s crazy that some people are so blind to aesthetic mandates that they can’t see or hear another point of view.”
