Silverstone Grandia GD11, un boîtier HTPC !

Today, we find ourselves for the test of a new box. However, it is a model of a rather particular format since it is a box said: ” HTPC “. Typically, this is the type of box that is chosen to integrate it directly into the furniture TV from his living room. We will therefore see what the Grandia GD11 from Silverstone, model released in mid-2022, offers. Come on, let’s go!

The exterior of the Grandia GD11:

The first thing you will notice regarding this model is its format. Indeed, it is similar to what a mid-tower case can offer, but lying on its side. This results in dimensions of 440 (W) x 399 (D) x 176 (H) mm. Dimensions to take into account before putting it in your furniture TV. Personally, it wouldn’t fit in mine, a Hemnes from Ikea. However, the empty weight is not communicated.

In terms of design, we find a rather sober case with a two-part front. The top of the latter is metal mesh in order to let the ventilation breathe when the lower part displays a brushed and anodized aluminum edge. The brand logo is also present in the middle. Note also the presence of a small lasercut around the different elements that make up the control panels.

The control panel:

By the way, since we’re at it, let’s talk regarding this control panel. The latter is distributed between the left and the right of the facade. It provides:

  • A button power et reset
  • Two status LEDs
  • A headphone jack
  • A port USB-C
  • two ports USB-A 3.0

In short, the connection is therefore similar to what the Commandment 15. At least Silverstone does not give in to the trend of minimalism and offers something functional with its two USB-A.

The lower part of the case does not offer anything exceptional apart from its four feet. Moreover, those located at the front of the case are much more worked than those positioned at the rear. Since the box must take place in a piece of furniture TVthe aim is to harmonize the look with the different amps of a Hi-Fi installation/home-cinema.

The back:

However, it is at the rear that we find the most things to say. Indeed, on the left, we distinguish the location of the power supply. The latter will be installed vertically and there is also the opening for its fan on the left panel.

Then in the bottom we have the location I/O Shield board with two slots for small fans just above. Finally, we end with the seven slots vertical extensions for mounting daughterboards.

Finally, the upper part does not present much in particular since the panel is solid. A simple square grid is present at the back, on the left.
