Silver for Romania! Gymnast Alexia Vânoagă is world vice-champion on beam

“Alexia Vănoagă is the junior world vice-champion! In Antalya she won the silver medal in the beam final with 12.833. Gold for Hanyue Yu (China) – 13.133, bronze for Cristella Brunetti-Burns (Canada) – 12.600.

The 14-year-old gymnast, trained by Carmen Traicu, obtained, as in the qualifications, the highest mark in the execution (8.233). Alexia is part of the “Country, country, we want champions” program, coordinated by Mariana Bitang and Octavian Bellu and financed by OMV Petrom.

“It is an objective surpassed by the Romanian delegation at this edition of the world junior championships, which proves that the gymnasts, the coaches and the selection committee were a team. The goal was a 4-6 place and Alexia was awesome. For juniors, the international competitive year is not over. FOTE is coming up in July, a competition for which I am convinced that they will prepare with the same seriousness. We wish them mobilization and success!” – Carmencita Constantin, FRG President.

The Romanian delegation will return home, tomorrow, April 3, at 8:20 p.m., at Henri Coandă airport.

Congratulations, Alexia, congratulations to the coaches from CNOPJ Constanța!”, transmits the Romanian Gymnastics Federation.
