Game News Silent Hill: the iconic horrific license spotted in South Korea, an announcement soon?
The Resident Evil license, if it has had its ups and downs, has always been able to continue on its way, with in particular Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village which arrived following two more action-oriented episodes. But for a long time, Resident Evil faced another, even more disturbing license, Silent Hill.
Silent Hill: a rich history and a huge setback
Resident Evil was born in 1996, and it was three years later, on PlayStation, that Konami responded with Silent Hill. Ultra thick fog, deformed monsters, characters with strange behavior, Silent Hill terrifies a whole generation of gamers. From 2002, Konami replicated the experience with Silent Hill 2probably the most appreciated episode and for which remake rumors circulate.
The adventure will then continue in 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012, before undergoing a huge setback in 2015. That year, we learned that the project Silent Hillsannounced with the terrifying playable trailer P.T, is canceled. Directed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro and played by Norman Reedus, Silent Hills is shelved and Kojima leaves Konami to found Kojima Productions and develop Death Stranding. And since ? Nothing, or almost.
Rumors, Leaks, and Official Ratings
For several months, rumors have been evoking the return of the license, including a remake of Silent Hill 2 or even a episodic game that would have been entrusted to Annapurna (Stray, Outer Wilds). At the beginning of September, we even saw a demo called “Silent Hill Playable Concept : Sakura”which leaked and which made it possible to learn that Masahiro Ito, the artistic director of the first three opuses, would be back. These leaks also featured a tortured character, whose appearance was reminiscent of a cherry blossom tree. Images that appeared months before, which suggest that they are authentic.
But while waiting for an official announcement, there is nothing to confirm anything. But things are changing rapidly, and a new clue has just been added to the mountain of leaks and rumors. In recent hours, the game rating and classification body in South Korea (The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea, or GRAC) has updated. On the site, a mention raised the eyebrows of all observers.
This statement, registered completely officially, is entitled Silent Hill : The Short Message. The mark was submitted on August 19 and registered on the 25th, finally appearing in the last few hours. For now, no platform is indicatedno more than a release date, but the publisher is none other than UNIANA, which publishes Konami games in South Korea. It is therefore quite possible that this Silent Hill: The Short Message is linked to the rumored episodic game, or to any other production. We will have to wait for an official announcement to know more, but theThings are becoming clearer and clearer for Silent Hill.
