Sikandar Raza Shines as Zimbabwe Dominates in ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Qualifiers

Zimbabwe won the second match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 qualifiers. Chevrons won the Group A match by beating the Netherlands by six wickets.

Superstar Sikander Raza’s all-round performance gave Zimbabwe a resounding victory. Kazaria Raza is the talk of the cricket world both in batting and bowling.

Raza took four wickets in bowling and scored a century in batting. Raza also holds the record for becoming the fastest player to score a century for Zimbabwe in an ODI match to lead the Chevrons to victory.

Zimbabwe won the toss and put their opponents into bat. Vikramjit Singh, who scored a half-century, captain Scott Edwards and Max O’Dowd gave a huge score.

Vikramjit scored 88 runs while Scott Edwards scored 83 runs in Harare. Max O’Dowd scored 53 runs from 67 balls and was decisive in the Netherlands innings.

Finally, the Netherlands scored 315 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated over.

Sikandar Raza took four wickets for Chevrons while Richard Ngarawa claimed two wickets.

The Zimbabwean batsmen scored one century and two fifties in reply to three fifties by the Netherlands.

Raza scored an unbeaten 102 off 54 balls for the fastest century by a Zimbabwean in ODIs while Sean Williams finished with 91 off 58 balls.

Along with them, captain Craig Irwin’s half-century saw Zimbabwe win with 55 balls to spare.

Raza’s century was the highlight of the match. While the individual score stood at 96, Raza shone by hitting a six and completing the team’s victory and century in one go.

Zimbabwe are top of the group standings following winning both of their two matches played in the qualifiers. Zimbabwe’s next match is on June 24. West Indies will be the opponents in the match to be held in Harare.
