Sigur Rós reveals when he will release his new album

Ten years after the publication of Turns on, Sigur Ros announced that it will publish a new studio album in June and will also be doing a tour of Europe and North America with an orchestra of 41 musicians. According to the band, they will perform songs from the upcoming LP and part of their best-known repertoire.

For the first time, Sigur Rós will embark on a limited series of performances with a 41-piece orchestra, performing songs from his new album and selected pieces from his catalog.“, says the official flyer of the tour, which also reveals part of the aesthetics and art that this new LP will have.

As the band reported through their social networks, the tour will take place in August and will include shows in Toronto, New York, Boston, Minneapolis, Seattle, Berkeley and Los Angeles. In New York the group will make two presentations: at the Beacon Theater on August 16 and then at the Kings Theater two days later.

In 2022 the Icelandic band went on a world tour that began at the Vaivén Festival in Mexico in April and continued through other cities such as Monterrey, Guadalajara, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Austin, Nashville, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Vancouver, Toronto and further. The tour closed in June with a show in New York.

Last year the band formed by Jónsi y Georg Holm also announced the return of Kjartan Sveinsson, who decided to return to the group after almost 10 years away with other personal projects. Sveinsson’s return was announced via a Twitter post, with a photo of the three of them, which read: “Two familiar faces and one new old familiar face. Three of us happy to be together again doing what we love. exciting things are coming.”
