Many mothers are confused regarding their child’s illness complaint. What are the cases in which transferring your child to a fever hospital becomes necessary?
Dr. Maher Al-Jarhi, Consultant for Internal Medicine and Chest Diseases, and Deputy Director of the Fever Hospital, answered, explaining a group of the most prominent signs and symptoms in which the child must be transferred to the Fever Hospital for immediate examination and treatment. The most prominent of these signs are:
1- fever The child’s temperature rises above 38 and a half without the ability to control it with either a hypoallergenic or compresses
2- The fever continues for many days and the inability to reduce it in any way
3- Hallucinations and lack of awareness and perception in the child, so you find him unable to understand and respond, and he has a state of apathy and withering and is unable to respond to you while talking, and his attention decreases significantly.
4- The child complains of a headache and annoying headache
5- Continuous vomiting if accompanied by all or most of the previous symptoms
These symptoms – according to Dr. Maher – are a clear indication of the need to transfer the child to a hospital specializing in fevers, for specialized medical intervention in his condition quickly, and to protect him from possible serious complications of these symptoms, such as contracting a viral infection of the brain as a result of fever, in addition to increasing the severity of the viral or bacterial infection. The child is infected, and this condition is not good, and the infection may develop into viral or bacterial pneumonia.
The chest consultant warned that the mother should not give the child any medications, antibiotics, or viruses before transporting him to the hospital, and that it is necessary to limit himself to only a fever reducer and record the symptoms to mention to the treating physician.
