Significantly changed Dutch team with five defenders against Germany – Voetbal International

The Dutch national team starts the friendly match against Germany on Tuesday in a 5-3-2 system. Ronald Koeman has made several changes to his team compared to the 4-0 win against Scotland, in which the Dutch team played 4-3-3.

It was already known that Bart Verbruggen would be the goalkeeper and that Matthijs de Ligt would be given a starting place in the defense. The latter replaces Lutsharel Geertruida. Jeremy Frimpong makes way for Denzel Dumfries and the defense is further strengthened with Daley Blind. Nathan Aké and captain Virgil van Dijk simply remain standing.

Jerdy Schouten starts in midfield next to Joey Veerman. Mats Wieffer therefore moves to the bench. The same applies to Georginio Wijnaldum; Tijjani Reijnders is the most attacking midfielder in the team. He plays behind Memphis Depay and Donyell Malen. The latter starts in place of Cody Gakpo; Xavi Simons has also lost his place.

Lineup Orange: Bridge; Dumfries, De Ligt, Van Dijk, Aké, Blind; Veerman, Schouten, Reijnders; Malen, Memphis
