Once once more, a Banksy work was stolen, as a person on Saturday uprooted a traffic sign on a London street, on which the unidentified street artist had drawn marches, before the police announced that they had arrested a man suspected of being behind the robbery. Banksy had adopted this work on social media, as usual.

London police announced on Saturday that they had arrested a man suspected of snatching a traffic sign in London that had an artwork by a street artist on it. BanksyTo rob her.

The work consists of three planes that look like military marches on a “stop” traffic sign, on Friday morning on a street in the Peckham neighborhood in southeast London.

The artist had published, as he usually does to announce that he is the owner of a work, via his Instagram account, a picture of this new work.

After a while, a man removed the traffic sign from its pole and took it away, as appeared in video clips filmed by witnesses and shown by the British media.

A witness named Alex (26 years old) told the British PA agency that there was no reaction from the bystanders who were present at the scene to what was happening in front of them. The witness added that the drawing thief was asked, “What are you doing?”, but “no one knew what to do.”

The London Police, contacted by Agence France-Presse, initially announced that it had not received any report in this regard. But the South Park Municipal Council, which is specifically responsible for traffic signs in this neighborhood, announced on Friday evening that it wanted to restore the sign and reported the incident to the police.

London police announced on Saturday evening that a man had been arrested and was still in pre-trial detention. A London Police spokesman said, “This incident is currently being investigated,” without giving further details regarding the arrested person.

The police called on “anyone with information regarding the accident or the location of the traffic sign” to contact the police.

A number of Banksy’s works were previously stolen in the past, including the door of the Parisian Bataclan concert hall, on which the unidentified artist performed a work in honor of the victims of the November 13, 2015 attacks in the French capital.

Other of his works were also destroyed, including a mural condemning domestic violence and depicting a housewife looking like a woman in the fifties or sixties, with bruises on her eyes and broken teeth.
