A resounding success. Signal Conso is the free government application dedicated to consumers that allows you to quickly report a problem encountered when purchasing a product (in store or online) or a service to the Fraud Prevention Department. This Thursday, the DGCCRF presented its 2022 report in the presence of the Minister of Commerce Olivia Grégoire. The opportunity for a progress report on the mobile version of the Signal Conso website, less than two months following its launch, since May 22.

And the latter has been downloaded more than 100,000 times, a card hailed by Olivia Grégoire. “We were, on the day of the launch of the app, the first downloads in France, both on the apple store, but also on Android. A record for a government application”, she proudly launched.

550,000 reports recorded

Beyond the small number of ministerial self-satisfaction, it is true that the results are there: more than 300,000 consumers use Signal Conso since the launch of the website in 2020. In total, nearly 550,000 reports have been recorded, on the app or the site. For defective products, misleading , or fraud, the DGCCRF is notified instantly, in the same way as the companies concerned.

And most correct it, according to Sarah Lacoche, director general of fraud prevention. The DGCCRF allows it to target and detect cases that might be problematic. “Some cases are very unique, but we are able to see if certain reports concern the same company. In these cases, this can effectively allow us to carry out a check,” she explains. In 2022, the repression of fraud carried out 88,000 checks and notified just over 1,600 fines. Amount raised? 46 million euros.
