It’s never really been the joy on the third-party app side for the Apple Watch, and it’s not tonight’s news that is going to improve the situation. Uber has in fact decided to no longer support the watchOS version of its app, even if it remains available for download in theApp Store (But for how long ?).
On the watch, the Uber app is now content with a simple, somewhat sad panel announcing the bad news, asking to use the iOS version. The wrist version of Uber allowed order a ride and be alerted when the driver is in the area. It didn’t do much, but its removal is a blow to the watchOS ecosystem: this companion application was launched in 2015 in the wake of the Apple Watch.
