In the history of China, almost every dynasty fell due to the collapse of the national governance system, which led to the people’s deprivation of life. As a result, peasant uprisings broke out and dynasties changed. In Sichuan Province, peasant uprisings have occurred in all dynasties. According to statistics, Sichuan participated in fourteen dynasty change battles from the beginning of the Qin Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. The most famous of them were the uprisings of Liu Bang and Liu Bei.

Liu Bang grew from a small pavilion chief to an emperor who commanded the world. The most critical strategy was to capture Hanzhong. After taking Hanzhong, Liu Bang controlled the entire Western Shu region, and from then on he continued to develop outwards, gradually grew stronger, and finally eliminated Xiang Yu and became an emperor. Hundreds of years later, under Zhuge Liang’s advice, Liu Bei seized the land of Shu and entered Hanzhong to establish the Shu Kingdom. Unfortunately, the talents of the Shu Han Dynasty were withering, and there were no people who might take on the important tasks, so the country eventually fell.

In fact, Sichuan’s geographical features are very unique. There are basins and plains in the middle, surrounded by dangerous passes such as the Qinling Mountains and the Three Gorges, which are easy to defend but difficult to attack. Attacking from the outside requires climbing over mountains and ridges, but the soldiers defending the city can wait for work and easily defeat the exhausted foreign soldiers. In addition, following entering Sichuan, there is the vast Sichuan Plain. The Dujiangyan Irrigation System built by Li Bing and his son during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period solved the only water conservancy problem that Sichuan was worried regarding. From then on, the Sichuan Plain was a fertile land. There was no war externally, and internal droughts and floods ensured harvests. Sichuan’s grain harvest was very large. Food and grass are the most important part of the battle. With such abundant backing support in Sichuan, there is no need to worry regarding food and grass during the uprising.
