The Criminal Investigation Service arrested, on Sunday, February 25, in the Republic of Mozambique, Gerson Emanuel Quintas, also known as “Man Genas”, whom it advises to present evidence of the accusations. On the other hand, the accused’s wife said that the evidence was stolen in a robbery they suffered at their home.
There are two arrest warrants once morest Man Genas, for crimes of qualified theft and abuse of trust, in addition to crimes of outrage once morest the State, its symbols and bodies, public incitement to crime, defamation, insult and slander. After his arrest last Sunday, his family (pregnant wife and two minor children) were in the custody of the authorities, and, yesterday, the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) officially handed him over to his relatives.
According to SICGeral’s spokesperson, Manuel Halaiwa, the citizen in question, accompanied by his wife and minor children, left the national territory, following the publication of several audios and videos on social media, once morest the President of the Republic, government officials , general officers and commissioners, regarding their alleged involvement in drug trafficking. “Whoever accuses must present proof of what he says, so Man Genas now has the superb opportunity to prove it. He will be presented to the Public Ministry for further legal proceedings, while his wife and minor children were handed over to the family”, he maintains.
Man Genas had taken refuge in the Republic of Mozambique, where he requested asylum, which was rejected for not providing proof of the alleged persecution, according to the SIC. “Seeing his failed attempts, he rose up once morest the Mozambique authorities, so, once expelled, he is banned from entering that territory for a period of ten years, just like his family,” said Manuel Halaiwa. At the conference held yesterday by SIC, there was Man Genas’ wife, Clemência Suzete Vume, who in statements to the press said that much of the evidence was lost in a robbery they suffered at her residence in Luanda and regretted the fact that her husband was detained.
“Me and the kids are fine! I just want the authorities to release my husband because I’m going to give birth soon and we need him”, said the pregnant wife. Clemência Suzete Vume recognizes that she, her husband and children entered Mozambican territory illegally, but she regretted the fact that the authorities in that country treated them very badly. It is important to highlight that, on the same occasion as Man Genas’s extradition, the national citizen identified by Higino Duarte Regal was also extradited, for having escaped from the prison where he was serving a ten-year prison sentence for the crime of international drug trafficking, over whom he was an international arrest warrant has been issued.
