Like last year, Adam Siao Him Fa was able to emerge victorious in the French Grand Prix, contested at the IceParc in Angers. The Frenchman was able to catch up on the American Ilia Maninin during the free program.
Adam Siao Him Fa did it once more on the ice of Angers. Winner of the French Grand Prix in front of his home crowd, the native of Bordeaux did not let anyone win during the third of the seven rounds of the ISU Grand Prix. However, at the end of the short program played this Friday, the Habs did not have the upper hand over their opponents. Indeed, with a score of 101.07 points, he was only in second place behind the American Ilia Malinini (101.58 points).
However, when evolving on a medley of the songs “Departure”, “The Quality of Mercy”, “Mercy” and “Refuge”, a theme evoking the story of life, Adam Siao Him Fa did more than convince the judges. Managing to land no less than four quadruple jumps and two triple Axels, the Frenchman scored 205.71 points on this free program alone. For his part, Ilia Malinin responded with also four quadruple jumps and two triple Axels. However, his performance was slightly less well rated (203.10 points).
Siao Him Fa: “Have fun on the ice”
A difference which is enough for the happiness of Adam Siao Him Fa. Indeed, with a total of 306.78 points, he is ahead of his American rival by a little more than two units (304.68 points). “I was shaking when I started my program,” he told the official ISU website. But, just following passing the first movement, I told myself that I had to stop thinking regarding the competition and have fun on the ice. Winning is a great feeling, I can’t realize what happened. The fact that the level was so high this year at the French Grand Prix was a source of motivation. I wanted to push myself to exceed my limits and I really enjoyed skating this (Saturday) evening. »
At a distance, with a total of 273.14 points, the Japanese Yuma Kagiyama completes the podium. On the Tricolore side, Luc Economides finished sixth (230.74 points) when Landry le May took ninth place (219.04 points.
