They have passed away conjoined twinsLori and George Schappell at 62 years of age in a hospital Pennsylvania, in United States. At the moment, the causes of his death, which occurred on April 7, have not been released.

The brothers became well known following appearing on several shows and having starred in several documentaries regarding their lives. George mightn’t walk because he had spina bifida, so Lori carried him in a wheelchair. Despite the difficulties, both tried to lead as independent lives as possible. Thus, George was a singer of Country and Lori worked at a hospital and played cakes. In addition, they lived in an apartment in which each one had their own room and they slept alternately in each one.

The twins were born on September 18, 1961, fused in the skull and sharing 30% of their brains, the parietal and frontal lobes. Doctors predicted that they would not live more than 30 years, however they have managed to double their expectations. Although they studied it, they did not want to be surgically separated. “Why fix what’s not broken?” George said in a 1997 documentary.

George, who was initially called Dori, came out as a transgender man in 2007, becoming the first set of conjoined twins to identify as different genders. They also had the Guinness record of being the oldest living conjoined twins in the world.
